March...

Last week I wrote this wonderful little blog. I quipped, "Nuts to the the old cliche` about March..'in like a lion and out like a lamb'" and then I continued with my feelings about the month of March and it's most magical and mystical qualities. I went on to glorify the emerald green hills around SLO county and the purple lupins and the magnificent mustard that glows golden throughout the hills and the vineyards. March, I noted again, is a magical month!
I lost the whole blog! It is somewhere in cyberspace, I suppose, which is frustrating as I was so poetic and my words were so happy and flowery last weekend as I rambled about Magical March...Oh well. Some cyber idiot out there is reading my blog misty eyed and planning a trip to San Luis Obispo just to see the beauty that is surrounding us here at Petit.
Another note about March....The Marvelous Monterey County Morgan Winery wines that we are serving ..."Month o' March Morgan Madness" we named the month. We are pairing the Morgan un-oaked Chardonnay, Syrah and the Rhone Cotes du Rooster blend with some tasty bites each weekend evening during wine tasting. So far, we have received rave reviews about the wines!
And lastly, as March is quite the month o' blarney, we are baking Irish Soda bread and serving it with a delectable Green Eggs and Ham and a nice little Corned Beef Hash strata to celebrate the great St. Patty....There will be a wee bit o' Guinness, as well. I love St. Patty's Day as I do love the blarney, I love Green and it is Annie's (our daughter) birthday! Smiles all around!
Another fun little note for all the St. Patrick's celebrants....did you know that McCarthy's Pub on Marsh Street, downtown SLO, is the number one seller of Jameson Irish Whiskey in the country? It sells more than all the Chicago Pubs, the Boston pubs, and the New York Pubs.... McCarthy's opens at 6 in the morning on the 17th to a line that goes around the block. Cheers!
In the blog before this one you will read of Cole's near departure from Petit. It is mixed with sadness and also with excitement for her to explore a new path. She has so much to offer and to experience, plus she has a new husband to hang with and to bake and cook for and to love! We know we will always be in touch as Cole is part of our family...way beyond Petit.
In closing, look around and inhale the beauty that surounds you in this most magical and mystical month of March!
Leprechaun smiles, Dianne
