Une Petit Douceur du Petit Soleil

BonJour and Happiest Greetings,

The last of the pumpkins, autumn leaves, sunflowers and the orange, black and brown ribbons have all been put away at both Petit and at our home. It is a bit sad, really, as I do love everything Fall…but
………..it IS beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!

The flavors and the scents of the season are abundant: gingerbread, fragrant cookies and mulled wine, fresh pine trees and cedar logs burning in fireplaces. Memories and traditions flow, Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa gifts and décor fill store windows and shopping bags. Hearts become more generous as it is the season of giving. It’s a most wonderful time of the year.

Petit’s Noel boxes and totes are out and tomorrow we begin to decorate the hotel for the season! We will start baking our traditional fleur de lis gingerbread cookies and peppermint bark to share with our purveyors and we be serving our most delicious Pannetone French Toast, Gingerbread Pancakes and Pumpkin – Apple Coffee Cake among other delicious goodies to our guests. Our former manager, Lindsey, sent me a recipe for Pumpkin Scones that we will bake up have on hand during this happy season, as well.

December Wines: The Favorites of 2009!
We received so many rave reviews of wines from this past year that we will be serving them again, with specially paired appetizers, during the month of December. We have Tolosa Grenache Blanc and Mission V, Morgan Sauvignon Blanc and Cotes du Crow, Edna Valley Syrah and Clayhouse Malbec. The guests loved Verdad Tempranillo and Terlato Sirah-Viognier Blend, Ortman Sangiovese (YUM!) and the beautiful French Roses and blends. So many delicious wines..it will be fun to replay them once again this month.

Ah, yes…speaking of wine! We have “une petit douceur de Petit Soleil” (something special from Petit Soleil) for the month of December. A gift of thanks to you, our guests! YOU make OUR life at Petit Soleil so special. So, upon check in, you will receive a bottle of one of our local wines (we appreciate our local wineries, too!) in a Petit Soleil green bag. If you do not partake in wine, we have a couple of travel mugs or latte mugs for you. With either gift, please know that you are appreciated!

I will be blogging about December events around SLO county soon…also included in the next blog will be local restaurants open for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and about the happenings at local wineries for the holidays.

In the meantime, enjoy the spirit of Joy and Love this Holiday Season!

Joyeux Noel! Feliz Navidad! Froliche Weinachten. Happy Hannukah!
Merry Christmas! Cheery Kwanza!

Love, Dianne
