New Restaurant in SLO and more pearls of SLo wisdom!
Bon Jour....!
I was just at Costco (you always run into to someone you know at COSTCO!) and I ran into Leonard Cohen, a good friend and owner of Olde Port Inn Restaurant on the pier in Avila. He was just a'twitter with excitement over the opening of his new restaurant in SLO. The restaurant is named after his two favorite things; Cioppino and Pinot Noir. The new eatery will cleverly be called Ciopinot! It will be located in the old Creamery building, corner of Higuera and Nipomo - the old Tortilla Flats restaurant. The new web page is www.ciopinotrestaurant.com ... I think they might still be working on menus and wine lists etc..so keep trying to pull up the page to read all about it. I am so looking forward to Ciopinot Seafood Grille as Leonard has great taste in wines and he knows seafood...AH, maybe Valentine's Day (hint hint, John..).
Another happening little spot in town is Corner View Restaurant, especially around martini time. I was there last week and the toonies were perfect and the crowd was entertaining. Bill and Patty Carpenter, the owners, are ALWAYS present, so you know the service and the food will be really good.
Also, mark your calendars for World of Pinot! It is March 6-7, 2009 (www.wopn.com). If you like Pinot Noir you can taste and compare some from all over the globe! It is always a fun event and March is gorgeous in Avila and in SLO.
After all the drinking and eating, I have to mention a few of my favorite pilates places. One is SLOPILATES (www.slopilates.com) and the other is Balance (805 541-1781 balanceapilatesstudio.com).. Both Lisa (SLOPILATES) and Nikole (Balance) are phenomenal instructors and have both private sessions and group classes. Theresa Spafford (theresaspafford@hotmail.com) is a killer gyrotonics and gyrokenesis instructor. I always feel happily twisted and turned after sessions with her - twisted, in a good way! If you are planning to spend a couple of days in SLO, a pilates or gyrotonics session will take away all the guilt of eating great food and drinking great wines ...REALLY!
So, just a few tidbits to tide you over!
CHeers!
